Reaching Trimbakeshwar and Nashik
Trimbakeshwar is a small temple town about 28 km west of Nashik city, in Maharashtra. Almost everyone reaches Nashik first and travels the last stretch by road.
By train
Nashik Road is the station to book for. It sits on the Mumbai–Bhusaval line, about 8 km from the centre of Nashik and about 40 km from Trimbakeshwar, and most Mumbai, Delhi, Pune and Bhusaval trains stop there.
Prepaid taxis, ordinary taxis and autos wait outside the station through the day. A taxi from the station to Trimbakeshwar takes a little over an hour.
By air
Nashik has its own airport at Ozar, about 20 km north-east of the city. It handles only a small number of scheduled flights, so check what is flying before planning around it.
Mumbai airport is the usual choice, roughly 180 km away, with trains, buses and taxis onward to Nashik. Pune airport is the other option, roughly 210 km from Nashik by road.
By road
From Nashik the road to Trimbakeshwar runs about 28 km west and takes around an hour in normal traffic.
State transport buses leave Nashik's Old CBS stand for Trimbakeshwar through the day, and shared jeeps run the same route. A hired car or taxi is the easiest option for a family carrying puja saman.
Mumbai is about 165 km from Trimbakeshwar by the Mumbai–Agra highway, and Pune about 235 km.
Where to stay
Trimbakeshwar itself has dharamshalas and small lodges, within walking distance of the mandir and the Kushavarta ghat. They are simple, and they fill up on Shravan Mondays, Amavasya and during Pitru Paksha, so book ahead for those days.
Nashik, an hour away, has hotels in every price range. Families booked for a three-day vidhi such as Narayan Nagbali usually prefer to stay in Trimbakeshwar so that the early mornings are easier.

- On the day: come to the ghat or to the place sent to you on WhatsApp about fifteen minutes early, carrying the saman listed for your puja.
- For a puja at your own home, shop or office in Nashik, nobody travels anywhere — Guruji comes to the address at the time fixed.
