About this puja
Kumbh Vivah takes the form of a marriage, with a kumbh — or a Vishnu or Ashvattha pratima — standing in the place of the spouse. A mandap is put up and the mangalashtak is recited, as at a wedding.
It is the vidhi kept where a patrika is read as Manglik and the family wishes the first vivah to be performed in this form. Which of the three forms is used is settled once the birth details have been seen.
It is performed at Trimbakeshwar, or at the family’s own house in Nashik where there is room for the mandap.
