About this puja
Udakshanti is a shanti vidhi kept in Maharashtrian households in which water is the centre of the rite. A kalash is filled, and the Purusha Sukta, the Rudra mantras and the shanti suktas laid down for it are recited over that water.
The water is then sprinkled on the members of the family and through the rooms of the house, which is the part of the vidhi the whole household gathers for.
It is performed at the family’s own home in Nashik, and often on the same morning as a Vastu Shanti or a Satyanarayan pujan.

Common questions
Can it be done on the same morning as another puja?
Yes. Families often keep it alongside a Vastu Shanti or a Satyanarayan pujan, and the two are then performed one after the other in the same sitting. Mention it when fixing the day.
Who should be present?
The head of the house sits for the sankalp, and the family members who are at home stand for the sprinkling at the end. Nobody has to travel anywhere — the vidhi is done at your address.
