About this puja
Vastu Shanti is the pujan of the place itself — the house, flat, shop or office — rather than of the family. The vastu purush mandal is drawn and worshipped, and a havan is lit inside the building.
At the end milk is set to boil over in the kitchen, which in Maharashtrian households is the moment the family counts as having moved in.
Nothing is performed at Trimbakeshwar for this one. It is done at the address itself, in Nashik or in the villages around it, because it is that place which is being worshipped.
When families perform it
- Before a family starts living in a newly built or newly bought house or flat.

- After major building work, including where the family has already moved in.

Ganesh pujan and sankalp at the place itself, then Kalash sthapana.
Pujan of the vastu purush mandal, then navgrah pujan.
Havan inside, milk boiled over in the kitchen, then aarti and prasad.
